Journalist Walks Out During Warcraft Interview With Duncan Jones, Gets Backlash Online

It’s been almost a month since Warcraft’s international premiere. While the movie overwhelmed in China, with it even expected to beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the Chinese box office, the Duncan Jones-helmed film was received poorly by critics.

To be fair to Jones, he seems to have handled himself well amid all the negative criticisms, even in a recent interview where a journalist walked out on him, resulting to an awkward moment.

The interview can be seen below, with the uncomfortable walk-out happening at the 5:40 mark:

The interview wasn’t all bad. In fact, it was agreeable at the beginning. Adam Rosser, the journalist kicked off the interview asking Jones whether he thought the story of Warcraft needed to be told multiple times. Unfortunately, it’s apparent during the rest of the interview how much Rosser does not think well of the film. He even asked Jones if he was the right filmmaker for Warcraft.

I think Jones handled himself petty well. He was able to answer the questions calmly while offering reasonable answers over his creative decisions in the film. The interview went awkward when Rosser suddenly stopped and asked someone off-screen whether the interview is done. Jones was left confused asking “Okay?”

To make matters worse, after the interview,Independent noted that the journalist received death threats from fans online, prompting him to delete the interview’s official version from BBC's iPlayer.

It’s perfectly fine if you don’t like a film, but Rosser’s approach was a bit too unfriendly in the professional setting. While the interview was certainly awkward, and I admit disrespectful, it’s not an excuse for people to send the man threats.

In any case, you can judge Warcraft for yourself in theaters.
