Josh Brolin Was Rarely On Set Of Avengers: Infinity War Because Of Deadpool 2

Josh Brolin might have one of the biggest roles in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, but it seems like the actor was barely on set because of production of Deadpool 2.

Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch recently went on an interview with the Radio Times to talk about his work in the first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie, and during the discussion the Marvel actor revealed that Brolin was absent for much of filming in Infinity War.

"They used a stand-in for Josh. Josh wasn't in there for much," Cumberbatch recalled. "He did his bit and then a lot of stuff with a lot of us and him was missing because, I guess, he was doing Deadpool 2 and I was doing Melrose and The Current War."

Despite Brolin's absence, Joe and Anthony Russo did their best to work with the Marvel actor's availability.

"But we made it work," Cumberbatch explained. "It's often the case you can act with other actors anyways, in certain scenarios because of the amount of additional stuff you have to fit in with the environment or the magic or whatever it is that's coming out of your hands or your ass."

Scheduling conflicts pose difficulties for big productions like Infinity War - it's difficult for producers to align the filming schedule for the movie, especially since they have more than 60 Marvel characters to bring together. While Brolin had to come in and play Marvel's Mad Titan Thanos, the Marvel star had also been cast as Cable, one of the lead character in 20th Century Fox's Deadpool sequel. We wonder whether we're going to notice Brolin's many absences when Avengers: Infinity War premieres next week though. We'll have to wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27.
