A lot of names have been running around for the casting of Deadpool 2's Cable. Earlier this year, rumors had it that James Bond star Pierce Brosnan was being considered for the role after he was seen in photos hanging around with Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman. After that, there was Michael Shannon and then David Harbour.
Now, after months of speculation and reports, 20th Century Fox finally has a Hollywood actor to star as Deadpool's partner in the raunchy sequel to his R-rated solo film.
Who exactly is the new Cable? According to The Hollywood Reporter,it's Josh Brolin.
Though Shannon and Harbour had almost nabbed the role, it appears that Brolin has emerged as the winner. The Marvel actor who plays Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise contender for the role - the actor was never once mentioned as one of the candidates for the role of Cable during the past few months.
Despite the element of surprise, 20th Century Fox chose their Cable star pretty well – Brolin is no stranger to working on comicbook movie characters and does well as an actor, receiving a nomination for his performance in Milk.
