Jon Voight Joins the Cast of 'Harry Potter' Spin-Off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'

Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight has joined the cast of the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,the Hollywood Reporter reports. The film has also cast Selma actress Carmen Ejogo and Humans actress Gemma Chan. The studio didn't reveal any descriptions for the characters they're playing.

Fantastic Beasts is currently filming in England. Eddie Redmayne leads the film as Newt Scamander, the wizarding world's leading magizoologists. The movie is set 70 years before aspiring wizard Harry Potter reads Scamander's book during his first year at Hogwarts.

The Harry Potter spin-off will also star Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farell, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol. The script was written by J.K. Rowling herself, and it follows follows Newt Scamander (Redmayne) as he journeys through New York's secret community of witches and wizards.

The film is being produced by David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves (who scripted all but one of the "Harry Potter" films) and Lionel Wigram, who served as an executive producer on the last four installments of the blockbuster franchise. The spin-off will be released in theaters on November 18, 2016.
