At the age of 90, legendary film composer John Williams continues to make iconic scores with his most recent work being in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series where he composed the main theme. However, after decades of great contributions to the art of cinema with his music, it looks like his illustrious career might end soon.

Speaking recently with AP, Williams revealed that he is planning to retire soon as he is currently working on the score of the fifth Indiana Jones film, which may be his last just like how it is expected to be Harrison Ford's final turn in playing the iconic character.

"At the moment I’m working on Indiana Jones 5, which Harrison Ford — who’s quite a bit younger than I am — I think has announced will be his last film," he said. "So, I thought: If Harrison can do it, then perhaps I can, also."

The Oscar-winning composer added, "I don’t want to be seen as categorically eliminating any activity. I can’t play tennis, but I like to be able to believe that maybe one day I will."

Given that working on a project like a Star Wars film takes six months of work which is "a long commitment" for him at this point in his life, he instead is going to devote himself to composing concert music.

While it might be unfortunate to hear that Williams will stop composing film scores soon, it is impressive to think that he is still actively working as a film composer up to the day. However, he already had a lot of wonderful contributions in his storied career. He may be writing his final notes right now, but his works will always be there and we can look back at them anytime.

Besides Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Williams also composed scores for other iconic films such as Jaws, Superman, Harry Potter, E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, and many more.
