John Williams Is Back As Indiana Jones 5 Composer

Steven Spielberg has announced that John Williams will be returning to the Indiana Jones as the composer for its fifth movie installment.

The legendary filmmaker dished the news during an American Film Institute tribute to Williams' sixty decades of work. Spielberg was present during the celebration and he made the announcement through his official Twitter account, saying that the equally renowned composer would be back to make music for the Indiana Jones franchise.

The announcement marks Williams' second return to a massive franchise that he's been a part of building. His first was to the Star Wars franchise with last December's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It's worth noting that Williams said in a recent interview that he would like to return to Episode VIII because of actress Daisy Ridley, since he doesn't want any other composer to make music for her.

It's kind of a no-brainer that Williams is back for Indiana Jones 5, but it's still nice to hear it officially. It's kind of hard to imagine any other composer making music for the iconic series. It's one of those things in the franchise which you can't see anyone else doing, like Indy's role played by Harrison Ford. Even Indy 5 producer Frank Marshall claimed that only Ford can play Indiana Jones.

It looks like the next few years will be another busy slate for the legendary composer, who has been a fixture in the film and television industry since 1956. His work has influenced millions of people, with fans creating their own tributes and renditions, such as this young pianist below:

Aside from the film scores included in the tribute video above, Williams also composed music for films such as Superman, Jaws, Schindler's List, and The Adventures of Tintin. He's currently the laureate conductor for the Boston Pops'. The 50-time Academy Award-nominee has won 5 Oscars, 4 Golden Globe Awards, 7 British Academy Film Awards, as well as 22 Grammy Awards.
