John Boyega Wraps Filming For Pacific Rim: Uprising

John Boyega has been getting more attention after starring in undoubtedly one of the biggest movies of 2015; he's been cast in Pacific Rim sequel, and after six months of work, he has officially finished shooting.

Boyega confirmed this with a post on Twitter saying:

In the movie, Boyega will be playing the son of Idris Elba's character Stacker Pentecost. Jake Pentecost will be a Jaeger pilot just like his father, and based on Boyega's performance in The Force Awakens, fans are expecting him to be more magnetic of a personality than Charlie Hunnam in the first movie.

Speaking of the first movie, I thought that it was definitely visually amazing, but the execution of the story was so-so at best. I was pretty irritated that a huge chunk of the Jaegers got wiped out in the second act of the movie, saving us from what could have been a climax sequence that would ultimately have been more epic.

Though Guillermo del Toro will not be returning to direct the sequel, he is still attached as the producer, and Daredevil's Steven S. DeKnight has taken the helm. Besides Boyega, the movie will also star Suicide Squad's Scott Eastwood, and it will also see the return of actors Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Rinko Kikuchi.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set for a release on Feb. 23, 2018.
