John Boyega Teases ‘New Star’ In Star Wars: Episode VIII

Star Wars:Episode VIII is still more than a year away from its release, and yet there's already tons of rumors circulating about the highly anticipated movie. Since Disney/Lucasfilm hasn't released any official word on the film, it's only natural for fans to watch out for any bit of information from the cast or crew of the film.

Well, the latest info comes from actor John Boyega himself. The 24-year-old British actor, who played the stormtrooper turned rebel Finn in The Force Awakens, teased a certain "new star" in Episode VIII.

According to Metro, before a screening of Secrets Of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey in a London cinema last night, Boyega told the audience to look out for "Kelly," adding that she's the "new star" of Episode VIII.

The Kelly that Boyega is referring to is none other than actress Kelly Marie Tran, who was confirmed last month as one of the new stars in the movie, along with Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.

Other than this tidbit of information, Boyega didn't reveal anything else. We still don't know who Tran will play, but there have been rumors that she could replace Han Solo's comical role in the film. There's also the possibility that she could be playing a small alien considering her petite size at 5′ 2″ (1.57 m).

Episode VIII will be Tran's debut into the world of blockbuster movies. Her previous experience consists of TV and web series since 2011.

Regardless of Tran's role, it's pretty clear that Boyega was impressed.

Who do you think Kelly will be in the movie?

Star Wars: Episode VIII is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
