J.K. Simmons Joins Justice League as Commissioner Gordon

Warner Bros. has cast J.K. Simmons to play the role of Gotham City Police Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Justice League - Part One, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League - Part One will see stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) teaming up following the events of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as they need to defeat a newfound threat that will challenge each of the members' abilities.

Justice League is penned by Chris Terrio and produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, and Deborah Snyder. The film is expected to begin shooting in mid-April.

J.K. Simmons, who's well-known and loved for his portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films, has expressed his intention of starring in the new Spider-Man reboot following a fan petition which asks the Oscar winner to reprise the role. Now that he's on DC's Justice League - Part One, obviously it seems less likely for the actor to star in the Spider-Man 2017 reboot.

Commissioner James Gordon has been portrayed by several different actors on the silver screen and on television over the years. Knowing Simmons' talent of bringing all his characters to life, I have no doubt the actor will give another comic book character the performance it deserves.

Justice League - Part One will hit theaters on November 17, 2017. Meanwhile, Justice League - Part Two will hit theaters on June 14, 2019.
