J.K. Rowling Already Wrote the Sequel for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them director David Yates told GSNews that J.K. Rowling has already written the sequel movie. During an interview, he said, "We've done the first one, she's written the second one, she has ideas for the third one," Yates said at the premiere of his other new movie, The Legend of Tarzan. "No one quite has ownership of [the films] yet, in terms of having a relationship with the material, other than the relationship they'll have with the movie when it comes out, so it's lovely in a way."

In addition to direction Fantastic Beasts, Yates directed the last four Harry Potter films, from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. He discussed how working with Rowling as a screenwriter is different from adapting her books into a script. "When we adapted the books, you'd always have to leave out things that you hated leaving out because they didn't quite work within the structure of the storytelling for the movie or the movie would be far too long. With this, it's just pure Jo [Rowling] from the first page to the last page."

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is planned for 2018. The first movie will be premiering on November 18, 2016. Eddie Redmayne is the movie's leading man.

This movie follows the Harry Potter character Newt Scamander as he visits the Wizarding World of New York in the 1920's. It will be J.K. Rowling's first credit as a screnwriter for film.

It is true that the Harry Potter movies changed a lot from J.K, Rowling's books. With this movie, we'll be treated with a vision that is entirely hers, which is interesting. Are you excited to see Rowling's first film? Do you anticpate it will be as good as her books?
