J.J. Abrams Has Bigger Plans For The Cloverfield Franchise

10 Cloverfield Lane will be released this month, expanding J.J. Abrams' universe of Cloverfield films, but it's not a direct sequel to the 2008 film, but it is connected in a way that exists in the same world. And it sounds like this won't be the last Cloverfield film.

Abrams recently spoke with Variety, and says that he has bigger plans for the franchise:

"It's not just an anthology. There's something that we're working on. But it will remain to be seen if we're given the shot to do it."

Chances are, if the 10 Cloverfield Lane does well at the box office, we'll see more Cloverfield films, and I'm really intrigued about Abrams' mysterious plans. The next Cloverfiled movie will probably come out when we least expect it. You can read more about Abrams' plans to expand Cloverfield here.

10 Cloverfield Lane will be released in theaters on March 11.
