J.J. Abrams and Daisy Ridley to Work on New Sci-Fi Film ‘Kolma’

It looks like Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has been very much impressed with Daisy Ridley that he decided to give the 24-year-old Brit actress another big break. The two are joining forces again in an upcoming sci-fi film located in a galaxy not very far away.

According to The Wrap, Ridley will star in the Abrams-produced film Kolma, which is based on 2003's Israeli movie titled All I've Got. As of this writing, other people involved in the project have been unconfirmed, but the report claims that Diary of a Teenage Girldirector Marielle Heller is in talks to helm the film.

Kolmafollows the story of a deceased elderly woman who, on her way to the other side, is given a choice. The first choice is going back to the time when she was 22 and she lost her husband in an accident. The second choice is moving on to the afterlife to reunite with her husband whom she lost five decades ago.

As noted by The Wrap, Kolma combines both The Notebook and Defending Your Life.

It's pretty cool to see Abrams in a project that isn't a big blockbuster and it's even more awesome that he's decided to ask Daisy to join the project. Not that it's surprising. In a teaser clip from The Force Awakens Blu-ray/DVD last month, Ridley's audition for the role of Rey was so impressive that Abrams called it "unbelievable."

Another film Ridley's been reported to appear in is MGM's Tomb Raider reboot.

She will also appear in Star Wars: Episode VIII, slated for release on December 15, 2017.

It's a good year for Daisy Ridley.
