Jim Carrey Put a Dick Van Dyke Easter Egg in Sonic the Hedgehog

Jim Carrey has always been a physical comedian, and though he's been playing serious roles lately, he's coming back to form with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog. During a recent appearance on Conan, Carrey reveals that he actually snuck a Dick Van Dyke Easter Egg into the film.

It's interesting that Carrey would pay tribute to Van Dyke, seeing as he was also a physical comedian. It's kind of fun to see both Carrey and Conan talk about how Van Dyke has influenced them, with both of their distinguishing features being tall and lanky.

Though Van Dyke isn't in Sonic the Hedgehog, you can catch him on the second season of Kidding starring Jim Carrey. While Sonic is more of a kids' film, Kidding is probably one of the best things Carrey is working on right now. He works on it with Eternal Sunshine of the SpotlessMind director Michel Gondry, and it also features topnotch performances from Frank Langella, Judy Greer, and Katherine Keener.

Besides Kidding though, Carrey is said to have done fantastic work on Sonic, and it's definitely worth checking out this weekend.

Sonic tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend -- a human named Tom Wachowski. They must soon join forces to prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his powers for world domination.
