James Gunn Teases Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Production Start

One of the best things about James Gunn is that he enjoys interacting with fans on social media. It's an awesome trait that allows everyone to learn some interesting new details about the filmmaker's upcoming project. Need to know when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin production? Gunn has the answer for you.

Gunn recently shared a photo of a Drax plushie (it doesn't look a lot like Drax but I guess it will have to do) on his official Instagram account, prompting an onslaught of questions related to the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. When one fan asked "any news for when" people can expect the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, Gunn had a vague response.

"I won't start filming for a year or so," Gunn wrote.

It might sound like a really long wait but there is little doubt that Gunn is just being realistic. After all, he is still working on The Suicide Squad, which is currently in production. The filmmaker may need to take a break after filming the DC Extended Universe flick and should be ready to begin work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by the end of 2020 or early 2021.

For now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 does not have an official release date. However, a previous report indicated that the MCU flick could premiere in February 2023. Just remember that this has not yet been confirmed so it's best to take the news with a grain of salt.

The Suicide Squad will premiere in August 2021.
