James Gunn Shares Groot Deleted Scene Image From Guardians of The Galaxy

While director James Gunn is filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in Atlanta, he received a gift in the form of a deleted scene image involving Groot from the first film. As you can see below, it looks like the image was inspired by the Last Supper, with Groot at the center like Jesus, and the other otherworldly creatures around him, including Drax the Destroyer. Check out the image below:

Gunn posted on Facebook:

Groot's Last Supper. This was a shot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 that got cut from the movie and was never finished. The great artists over at Framestore finished a frame and just gave it to me as a gift. Thanks, guys! — with Dave Bautista (Batista).

It would be nice to actually see this image in motion.

In other Guardians news, Gunn recently hinted the possibility of more Guardians of the Galaxy films. He's also been sharing some of his sketches for the sequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters on May 5, 2017.
