Adam Warlock was supposed to play a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 but it seems like director James Gunn decided to prioritize Karen Gillan's Nebula instead.

Though Gunn had originally planned to give Warlock a part bigger than a post-credits tease in the sequel to his highly successful cosmic superhero romp, the director told IGN that he had decided to focus on Nebula instead to keep the screenplay from being "too busy."

"In the original treatment, even before it became a treatment, Adam Warlock was a major character. And the screenplay was just too busy, there were too many characters. "I couldn't do Nebula justice and Adam Warlock justice and have both in there so I decided to save Adam for another day."

Having Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) as one of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's villains naturally suggested the appearance of Adam, but switching the focus to be Nebula turned to be a good route for thefilm.

Nebula's relationship with her sister wasn't properly explored in the original The Guardians of the Galaxy and the character ended up having a poignant and dramatic character arc in the sequel. Reconciling with Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Nebula set out to kill her father Thanos, helping pave the way to Avengers: Infinity War.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will see its digital release tomorrow, August 8 and then the movie will have its Blu-Ray/DVD release a few weeks after on August 22.
