Jaimie Alexander Explains Why She Isn't In Thor: Ragnarok

Though Lady Sif has been a main fixture in Marvel Studios' Thor films, she's surprisingly absent from Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok. No after-credits or mid-credits scene gave us any explanation for her absence, but according to actress Jaimie Alexander, Sif going MIA was for one simple reason: Scheduling conflicts.

Talking to Yahoo! Entertainment, she revealed:

"I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when Blindspot was gonna shoot — it was pretty much the same time. So there was a conflict there. I was hoping for more of a notice from [the studio] so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come do this?' I said there is no way I can make that work that fast. It couldn't happen. They were on a different continent! So it was sad. I was bummed about it."

In Thor: The Dark World, Sif was being implied to be a "worthy" love interest for the God of Thunder compared to Jane Foster, but both women were clearly absent in Ragnarok with Thor not having a love interest at all. With Sif being one of Thor's closest companions in Asgard, you'd think that her whereabouts would at least be mentioned. What's she going to say when she gets back to Asgard and the Surtur is just there having destroyed everything??

If you ask me, it's probably for the best that she was missing from the film. If Sif was in Asgard by the time of Hela's attack, I have a feeling she would have died as unceremoniously as the Warriors Three. At least Hogun got to say some lines before dying.

Alexander doesn't seem to be holding any grudges for being absent in this movie, and the good news is, Thor still has a friend who can pop up in any future film; maybe a worthy future queen of Asgard?
