Jack Black and Cate Blanchett Star in New Trailer for The House with a Clock in Its Walls

Amblin Entertainment is all about kid-friendly fantasy films, and the studio has partnered up with gore master Eli Roth to bring to the big screen The House with a Clock in Its Walls. A new trailer has dropped for the film, and it gives us a great look at the overall story.

Here's the official description:

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town's sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

While the fantasy genre seems to be dominated by YA sensibilities like Ready Player One and The Hunger Games, it's kind of refreshing to see a film with the classic "young protagonist goes on an adventure" trope. You also can't go wrong with a movie that's cast two great stars like Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.

Though Roth is known for his more adult movies, I have no doubt that he can tone it down a bit for this kids' film. I just hope it comes out like Stranger Things, kid-friendly, but still has legitimate scares.

The House with a Clock in Its Walls comes out Sept. 21.
