It's Possible that Spider-Man Could Appear in a Future Venom Film

One of the biggest gripes that fans have about Venom is that the movie completely removed Spider-Man from the character's origin, and has seemingly started taking place outside of the MCU. As it turns out, the film could very much be building to a meet-up with Spider-Man.

Talking to Discussing Film, Venom writer Jeff Pinkner explains, "Without revealing anything that I'm not allowed to reveal, it is not impossible that in a future/upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role."

While the update is kind of vague, it does give fans hope for the live-action aspect of the SUMC. It looked like Sony was setting up for failure when they decided to start a cinematic universe of Spider-Man characters without Spider-Man, but the promise of Spidey eventually jumping in makes things a little easier for fans.

Which Spidey is joining though? It's unclear whether Tom Holland will be the Spider-Man of the SUMC as well, but hopefully, Marvel Studios will be open to having the franchises merge down the line without any need for revamping. Then again, with Into the Spider-Verse introducing a multiverse of characters, we could give Tom Hardy his own different Peter Parker to fight.

I guess that's something.

We don't know when Spider-Man is set to appear in the SUMC, but we do know that a sequel to Venom is already in the works. In the meantime, everyone's favorite wallcrawler is heading back to cinemas in Spider-Man: Far from Home which hits theaters July 5, 2019.
