Injustice 2 Trailer Shows Off a Badass Brainiac

When NetherRealm Studios introduced Injustice 2, a lot of people knew that there was a far bigger threat than the madness that Superman went through. And now that we know that that supervillain is none other than Brainiac, the developer has released a new video introducing him as such.

This video focuses on Brainiac's capabilities and attacks as a character. He seems like a pretty good all-rounder, with both offensive and defensive stances, and long and short-range attacks at the ready. He seems like your everyday villainous genius, too, by the looks of his character overview:

"Brainiac is a megalomaniacal genius who roams the universe, collecting knowledge to increase his intellectual and scientific prowess. Obsessed with establishing his superiority, Brainiac captured Krypton's greatest cities, then eradicated what remained… or so he thought."

That said, it's hard not to compare his character design. Funnily enough, a lot of the video's viewers can't help but call to mind another villain on the other side of the universe—that is, the Marvel universe. His weapons are very reminiscent of Doc Ock's tentacles.

Not that these tentacle-like weapons aren't useless at all, especially since he has six of them. He doesn't go unscathed with Grodd's very primitive attacks—think Hulk and Loki's Puny God scene and you're all set. But his ability to attack from a variety of angles as well as create a ball of electrifying shield around himself do make him seem like a very flexible fighter. A player with a quick wit for these combo attacks would do well to use him.

That super move though—how exactly do you get away from that? I guess the answer is, you don't.

Injustice 2 will be out on the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
