Earlier today, word broke out that Marvel has been negotiating with Spider-Man director Sam Raimi to take in charge of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The project's original director Scott Derrickson left the Doctor Strange sequel last month, and now it looks like Marvel is looking for a comic book movie veteran to take his place.
Though Marvel has yet to close the deal with Raimi, there are a lot of fans wondering whether the director might use Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to bring in his Spider-Man universe to the MCU.
ComicBook.com tries to analyze the possibility of Raimi introducing his version of Spider-Man in the highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel, taking note of how the director's version of the wall-crawler was spotted in the background of the trailer for Sony's upcoming Spider-Man spinoff, Morbius. Sony has been vocal about its openness to the idea of Spider-Man jumping through universes, and the idea of Doctor Strange visiting a universe where Tobey Maguire's version of Peter Parker doesn't sound too farfetched.
Sony explored multiple universes in Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse. Wouldn't it be a hoot to see Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme running into another universe's version of Spider-Man? Wouldn't it be interesting if he came into contact with another universe's set of Avengers?
Of course, having Raimi direct Doctor Strange 2 doesn't necessarily mean that we'll get to see Maguire's Spider-Man on the big screen. But it sure would be interesting.
