During Hideo Kojima's stage Tokyo Game Show 2016 presentation for his upcoming game, Death Stranding, the Metal Gear series creator made some comments about Metal Gear Survive, the zombie action game set in the Metal Gear universe developed by Konami.
According to IGN, Kojima took the chance to distance himself from Konami's new game Metal Gear Survive, a spin-off from his acclaimed Metal Gear series. When asked whether the idea for the spin-off came from Kojima, he said, "That's nothing to do with me!"
"The Metal Gear games are about political fiction and espionage," he explained. "Where do zombies fit in with that?"
Yoji Shinkawa, the former mechanical and character designer of the Metal Gear series, who is now working on Death Stranding at Kojima Productions, joined Kojima on stage, and also denied any involvement in Konami's spin-off game, joking, "If I had worked on that game, it would have mechs in it."
I'm sure more Metal Gear fans are more excited to play Death Stranding than Metal Gear Survive. I'm glad that Shinkawa decided to work with Kojima on Death Stranding rather than Konami's spin-off.
