Here’s Who Jim Broadbent Is Playing In Game Of Thrones

Fans have known for a while that Harry Potter actor Jim Broadbent has joined the cast of Game of Thrones, but it was a mystery on who exactly he was playing. IN an interview with ScreenCrush, Broadbent has revealed that he will be playing a Maester in the series, but he's not saying exactly who.

The actor confirmed:

"I'm a maester, an archmaester. I'm an old professor character… I did five episodes. I did sort of one major scene in each episode."

Broadbent also confirmed that he will be sharing scenes with John Bradley, who play Samuel Tarley. Fans have suspected that Broadbent's character will be a character from the books called Maester Marwyn.

Marwyn was actually one of the older maesters who studied magic, thus earning him the title of Marwyn the Mage. When Sam tells him about the Whitewalkers beyond the Wall, Marwyn then set off to look for Daenerys — perhaps to tell her about the impending doom, and how she could help fight it with her dragons.

Broadbent is just one of many prolific actors to enter the cast of Game of Thrones, including Jonathan Pryce, Sean Bean, Julian Glover, and Ciaran Hinds. I hope they use him to use full potential in the series.

Game of Thrones season 7 is set to air this summer.
