Here's What's New About Apex Legends Season 5

Apex Legends Season 5 has finally come out and fans have been curious about all of the major changes coming to the free-to-play shooter. It looks like this update will be the most drastic in recent memory since two iconic locations are removed and a brand-new game mode has been added. The fact that this is all free is still pretty great and it will be interesting to see how future updates will compete with this.

First, we have brand-new character Loba, who seems to be some sort of loot collector. Not only can she epic and legendary loot through walls but the character can also pull in nearby loot for her squad as part of her ultimate attack. It makes her one of the more unique heroes added to the game, clearly meant for support though we're sure someone will make good use of that teleportation skill.

The game also adds a new mode called Quests, which is Player vs Environment or PvE for short. Whether solo or in packs, players are tasked with finding nine pieces of some kind of "mysterious artifact." It's the closest this game is going to get to a story mode unless they get inspired by Overwatch 2 and add that in the future.

When it comes to sinking Skull Town and Thunderdome, the creators felt that this was needed to change the map flow, at least according to the official blog of the game. They hope that removing these maps will let others shine since they also added new areas to fit within this new season's motif.

Apex Legends Season 5 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It's a free-to-play shooter so check it out now if you haven't.
