Here’s Some New Porg Facts From Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Director Rian Johnson

Luke (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) might be the main heroes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however, it seems like their spotlight's going to get stolen by a few puppy-eyed puffins called porgs.

Though some Star Wars fans feel a bit wary towards these cuddly merchandise-making monsters, others are eager to welcome these cute new Star Wars overlords and with The Last Jedi slowly approaching its release date, it seems like director Rian Johnson's eager to let out some fun facts about porgs.

Responding to a fan's Porg request to help cure a bout of depression, Johnson took to Twitter to talk more about The Last Jedi's new cutesy-patootsie scene stealers, adding additional details to the information Lucasfilm released during the past few months.

"Inquisitive" is definitely a word that can describe the porgs. Keeping fans busy with a series of Star Wars animated videos called Star Wars Blips, Lucasfilm's been rolling out clips that highlight the curious nature of the porgs as they try to steal BB-8's head and hide out in the Millennium Falcon. They definitely seem like a handful, and while some fans are worried that these little puffins might end up much like the original trilogy's Ewoks, it seems like the studio certainly has a new merch machine in its hand.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres December 15, 2017.
