Hela Was Supposed To Be Thor: The Dark World’s Big Bad

Hela (Cate Blanchett) might be kicking ass in Thor: Ragnarok but it seems like the Asgardian Goddes of Death was supposed to be the main baddie in Thor: The Dark World.

Marvel's final film of the year might be approaching its US release this Friday, however, the studio's still been making the promotional rounds, and in an interview with Slash Film, president Kevin Feige was asked how the movie evolved during its production. During the discussion with the publication, Feige opened up about Hela and how she had always been intended for Ragnarok because she hadn't been used in The Dark World like Marvel had originally planned.

"Blue sky ideas always started on this film with Hela. We wanted to make Hela the villain. Hela was almost the villain in Thor 2. It didn't happen for various reasons. And thank God it didn't because now we have Cate Blanchett and Taika doing it."

Well, Feige's right that it was good that Hela didn't make it in The Dark World – Blanchett's rendition of the Asgardian Goddess of Death is riveting and she fits perfectly in Taika Waititi's superhero space buddy movie.

Thor: Ragnarok makes its big debut in cinemas in the US this Friday, November 3, 2017.
