Years after the project was officially announced, we finally have our first look footage at the upcoming TV series adaptation of the acclaimed video game The Last of Us thanks to the recent promo released by HBO and HBO Max regarding their upcoming shows that are set to be released in the coming months.
While the footage only lasted several seconds, it did give us a glimpse at Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the main characters of the series. They also showed a quick look at Joel's daughter Sarah (played by Nico Parker), Bill (played by Nick Offerman), and some of the scenes that are reminiscent of the events that happened in the video game.

After the promo was released, Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the video game and also serves as co-creator, writer, and executive producer of the TV series adaptation, posted a tweet, "You ain’t seen nothing yet," which teases that they might show more footage from the series soon.
Based on the acclaimed video game, the series "takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival."
Besides Pascal, Ramsey, and Offerman, the cast also includes Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Jeffrey Pierce, Anna Torv, Storm Reid, and original Joel and Belle voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who will appear in different roles.

The Last of Us is slated to release on HBO early next year.
