HBO Hackers Threaten to Leak Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale

Winter may be arriving a week earlier than expected. Mr. Smith Group, the hackers who stole 1.5 terabytes of data from HBO, tells the Internet to 'get ready' for the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale to leak online.

Mr. Smith Group contacted Mashable with information including passwords of HBO's social media pages, and they also issued a major threat:

"Be ready for GOT S& E6 &E7 as soon as possible"

The information hasn't been verified, but given the episode leaks from previous weeks, it won't be shocking if the Season 7 finale actually makes it online before its official air date on HBO.

The only response HBO provided was the same response they gave since the leaks started:

We are not in communication with the hacker and we're not going to comment every time a new piece of information is released.
It has been widely reported that there was a cyber incident at HBO. The hacker may continue to drop bits and pieces of stolen information in an attempt to generate media attention.
That's a game we're not going to participate in. Obviously, no company wants their proprietary information stolen and released on the internet.
Transparency with our employees, partners, and the creative talent that works with us has been our focus throughout this incident and will remain our focus as we move forward.
This incident has not deterred us from ensuring HBO continues to do what we do best.

The hacker group have asked for a whopping $6.5 million ransom to ensure the episodes won't get leaked. According to hackers, HBO emailed them, offering to give $250,000 as ransom fee.

Game of Thrones Season 7 finale will officially air on HBO this Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
