Hayley Atwell Wants ‘Agent Carter,’ Teases Season 3?

Early this May, ABC canceled Agent Carter, much to the devastation of fans. Soon after, fans have started a petition that calls for Netflix to save the show. The petition now has more than 116,000 signatures.

Well, it isn't just fans who aren't giving up on the character, Agent Carter lead star Hayley Atwell herself wants to see the series continue.

She made the statement during a MegaCon appearance in Orlando, Florida on Saturday.

The 34-year-old actress said she's committed to reprising Peggy Carter "100 percent," adding that she's even willing to star in any revival show of the Marvel character. In fact, she's so committed that the British-American actress anticipates her new upcoming legal drama Conviction with ABC, where she's also a lead star. Atwell has apparently thought about the possible conflicts in schedule that she said if Netflix is willing to revive the show, she'd "shoot on the weekends."

Atwell said:

I love Peggy. I love the people that were working on this project together. The fans are incredibly warm and welcoming. And it would be an absolute privilege and honor to bring her back for the fans.

Well, fans will be glad to know that there had been talks of a season 3.

The actress also revealed some details of that talk with the series' showrunners, saying:

There was talk of season 3 of going further back into her past. So the showrunners were talking about a possible kind of twist, I suppose, into something to do with the family.
They suggested there would be more to do with my brother. So that's all I can say.

Atwell also teased a portraying Peggy "in my own movie," which would be extremely cool.

Check out Atwell's insights in the video below:

It remains to be seen whether Netflix will make a series or TV movie of Peggy Carter. It's clear that a possible revival already has a secure audience base, what they need now is a good story. Whether it's a series or movie, I believe Netflix, or probably Marvel Studios could make it work.

On the one hand, Netflix's released Marvel series to date, which include Jessica Jones and Daredevil, have both been received positively commercially and critically. Upcoming Marvel projects – Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders – all have enough of a fan base, and presumably good material, to make them work.

On the other hand, recent films of Marvel Studios and Disney have all been blockbuster successes, not to mention lacking of female hero leads. We all know Disney-Marvel needs female heroes put on spotlight now more than ever. The studios have been criticized recently for lack of female representation in the comic book movie genre, which is probably one of the reasons why they are considering a solo Black Widow movie and are creating Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson.

If Netflix or Disney decides to revive Agent Carter, I have no doubt that they can create a stellar job.

Do you think Agent Carter should have a third season at ABC or a Netflix revival, or do you think the character should star in her own solo movie?
