Fans were quite excited when Pokemon GO developer Niantic was announced as the developer for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, an augmented-reality game similar to GO. It turns out that there is another Harry Potter mobile game in the works, this time letting players create characters and actually be students in Hogwarts. The game is called Harry Potter: Hogwarts' Mystery and it will also be a mobile title coming out in 2018.
Revealed by Variety, Hogwarts' Mystery will be developed by Los Angeles-based studio Jam City. Like Wizards Unite, the game will be released under Warner Bros. new studio Portkey Games, which will focus on making Harry Potter games.
What will catch the interest of fans is the fact that the game will be set in the 80's before Harry, Ron, and Hermione was a part of the school. This might disappoint fans who were hoping to encounter the characters but we should be able to see Harry's dad James Potter, who was also a fan-favorite.
Like most mobile games, Harry Potter: Hogwarts' Mystery will be a free-to-play title. Wizards Unite will also be a free-to-play game, so fans of the Potter franchise can try out both titles and see which one they prefer.
