Harrison Ford Watched Solo: A Star Wars Story Twice And Loved Alden Ehrenreich’s Performance

Star Wars fans might have had doubts over Lucasfilm's decision to cast Hail Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich as its young Han Solo for Solo: A Star Wars Story, but original actor Harrison Ford has nothing but praise for the young star.

Solo director Ron Howard just recently went on an interview with Variety to help promote the studio's newest spinoff movie, and during the discussion, the award-winning filmmaker revealed that Ford had actually seen Solo twice.

According to Howard, Ford called Howard on the phone after he came out of the first screening just so that he could compliment the filmmaker on the movie and so that he could praise Ehrenreich's performance as Solo.

"I had never heard Harrison effusive about anything, and he was raving about it," Howard told the publication. "He said, ‘Alden nailed it. He made it his own.'"

Hearing that Ford liked the film seems pretty reassuring. The Star Wars legend's never been really fond of his role and the actor ended up skipping Solo's Hollywood premiere. To learn that the Star Wars actor ended up watching the film twice definitely helps assuage fans concerns over the Star Wars spinoff.

Ford isn't the only one who enjoyed Solo though. Original Star Wars creator George Lucas also gave Howard and Solo his support.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits cinemas this Friday, May 23.
