Han Solo Isn’t Really Han’s Name?

Fresh after Woody Harrelson revealed that his character has named Beckett and he was playing a criminal mentor to Han Solo, Disney CEO Bob Iger dropped some new information on the movie. Looks like it will delve deeply into Han's story before A New Hope.

Speaking at a USC tech conference (via Variety), Iger revealed that the Han Solo movie will take place over a span of six years, starting when Han is 18 and ending when he's 24. The movie is confirmed to reveal how Han met Chewbacca, how he also got his hands on the Millennium Falcon, and most interestingly — how Han "got his name."

Of course, this could allude to how Han became a notorious smuggler or how he did the Kessell Run in 12 parsecs, but the possibility of him coming up with the "Han Solo" moniker is very well in the books. In Legends, Han didn't know his full name for a while since his mentor, Garris Shrike (the equivalent of Harrelson's Beckett), kept his name a secret.

I'm very excited to see how they pull off some certain scenes like Han winning the Falcon from Lando over a game of sabacc, or seeing Han walk into the Cantina in Tatooine. So much hype is building around this movie, and the fact that Rogue One's Gareth Edwards and Alan Tudyk wanted to work on this film is just adding up to my anticipations.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to come out on May 25, 2018.
