It's been four years since we last saw Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts in the Marvel Universe, but rumors have sprung up that she could be appearing alongside the rest of the Iron Man family in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The rumor comes from Lainey Gossip, who says that Paltrow will be reprising her role as Pepper alongside Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Since her last appearance, Pepper has only been mentioned by Tony Stark in the movies, and it's been heavily implied that the two are currently "on break."
Marvel may be putting Paltrow's re-entry into the universe on hold since the actress could demand such a hefty paycheck. The last movie in her contract was Iron Man 3, and as of now, the Marvel Universe is just content with saying that she is too busy running Stark Industries to make any appearance.
Speaking of hefty paychecks, the same report has also implied that though Sony is happy with the way Marvel is dealing with their new Spider-Man, they're not really too keen on how much the studio is spending on the project. With the rumors that Spidey will leave the MCU after the sequel to Homecoming, this could just add more meat to the rumor.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters July 7.
