Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista Wants to Join Netflix's Gears of War Film

In case you missed it, Netflix is developing a live-action film based on the Gears of War video games. The news certainly has people excited for Marcus Fenix's live-action debut, and one actor wants to play the character. Dave Bautista is campaigning for the lead role in the upcoming movie and he is doing it in the best way possible.

Dave Bautista shared a new video on his official Twitter account and it features the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star wearing Gears of War armor. "I can’t make this any easier," Bautista wrote, tagging the game and Netflix before adding the hashtag #MarcusFenix.

Not surprisingly, Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski is loving the idea. Bleszinski responded to Dave Bautista's tweet, assuring him that the casting is being considered. "Brother, as the designer of 1 2 and 3 you're my first choice," the designer wrote.

At this point, it won't be a huge surprise if Dave Bautista gets cast as the live-action Marcus Fenix. After all, the resemblance is amazing and we already know that Bautista is perfectly capable of beating the crap out of the bad guys. With that in mind, we're hoping Netflix seriously considers this casting opportunity.

If Dave Bautista lands the lead role in Gears of War, it wouldn't be the first major Netflix film for the Dune actor. We already saw him in action in Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and he'll appear in Rian Johnson's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. There is little doubt that the streamer will have no problem hiring Bautista again so we're just waiting for an official announcement from the streaming giant.

Dave Bautista is set to return as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which is already scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
