Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3's Soundtrack Will Be Inspired By Yondu This Time

Music has always been an integral part of Guardians of the Galaxy, and fans have fallen in love with Meredith Quill's songs of choice for her son Peter. With Peter losing his Walkman in the second movie though, a new playlist will be coming to the third Guardians movie, and the main influence will be that of Michael Rooker's character Yondu.

In a Q&A Session on Facebook, James Gunn confirms that Yondu will be the one setting the mood for the soundtrack of Guardians Vol. 3. He says:

"Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 have been Meredith's song choices; her communication to Peter… In Vol. 3, the song choices will be Yondu communicating to Peter."

With the first Guardians movie emphasizing on Quill's relationship with his mother, the second movie had him trying to cope with having a long-lost father arrive into his life. TWIST—his actual father was evil, and Yondu was the father he had all along. It might sound cheesy in paper, but that moment where Quill realizes this is genuinely the most tear-inducing in GOTG Vol. 2.

So what kind of music does Yondu like? We'll just have to wait and see. James Gunn has said that he has a list of more than a hundred songs that he considers worthy of being in a Guardians movie. Let's just hope he has the same taste as Meredith Quill.

No official release date has been announced for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the movie does come out after Avengers 4 which releases 2019.
