Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Gets Release Window

There are only two post-Infinity War films Marvel has confirmed thus far; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel has been rather quiet about the next batch of films from the studio, dubbed phase four, which has made fans ponder on and on about when we'll see news about these projects. James Gunn, who directed the first two GOTG films and will return for the third, has confirmed a release window for the Guardians' next installment.

Answering a Q & A on Twitter, Gunn stated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated for a release sometime in 2020. That's only a year after Avengers 4, with many fans wondering how the Guardians have changed since Infinity War. Gunn has also stated that the third film would be the last time we see this incarnation of the group, which got some fans worried about the fate of certain characters associated with the films.

Gunn didn't state when in 2020 we would see the Guardians return, so it looks like the release date is still being talked about. With most of the actors and crew being understandably quiet about the events of Infinity War and its sequel, it's easy to assume that we won't get a proper date for the third film anytime soon.

While fans wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the group of intergalactic heroes will be a big part of this year's Avengers: Infinity War, which comes out on May 4. The unnamed sequel will likely feature them as well and is slated for a May 3, 2019, release.
