Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: James Gunn Reveals How Rooker Ruined A Rehearsal

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 writer/director James Gunn had a live Facebook chat Wednesday to talk a little about the sequel, mostly how Michael Rooker ruined a great rehearsal. When asked about the practical jokes made in the set, Gunn said:

"Most of us aren't really practical jokers, but we did have one day when we were rehearsing a very emotional scene with Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Drax (Dave Bautista), and they were sitting in there chairs in our rehearsal space. We were very emotionally moved; Pom had tears in her eyes, speaking this wonderfully emotional speech, and we look up and through the glass of the doorway... there's Michael Rooker's bare, naked ass pressed up against it. So that's a practical joke on set. There's another one I can't tell you about because it's a spoiler, but I'll tell you after the movie comes out."

Rooker will be reprising his role as Yondu from the first movie. It's good to know that it just happened during the rehearsal and not while actually filming.

When asked how the filming is coming along, Gunn mentioned Mantis and Drax again:

"I don't wanna tell you too much. I think the movie's going great. I only have two weeks and two days left of shooting this film. I think the movie's coming together really, really well. I think the cast has been fantastic. Every single actor that was in the first movie has gotten exponentially better. They all know their characters more deeply. Dave Bautista is absolutely killing it. Pom, who plays Mantis is killing it. Karen Gillan has had an amazing couple of weeks. She's just been fantastic. So I think that there's some really great stuff."

Gunn went on to say that although it's not harder to make, filming the sequel is more "emotionally wearing" than the first.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 will be released on May 5, 2017.
