Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn Reveals That He's a Big Nova Fan

We've had two Guardians of the Galaxy films from James Gunn, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 coming after he finishes up with The Suicide Squad, and fans are pretty excited. As we wait for, what seems to be, the final outing of Star-Lord and friends, many viewers have been wondering about a Nova movie and if Richard Rider will make an appearance in Guardians Vol. 3, given how the first film gave the Nova Corps some importance.

On Twitter, a fan wanted to confirm with Gunn if he knew nothing about Nova, which the Guardians of the Galaxy director quickly shot down. If the director is to be believed, he has supposedly read 75% of Nova comics available, which is pretty surprising to hear. Richie Rider has had a number of ongoings and mini-series over the years so Gunn reading most of them is interesting to hear.

Nova is a popular candidate for fans whenever a new Marvel property is discussed. Marvel head Kevin Feige knows this since he has confirmed that the Human Rocket is always being discussed for future Marvel phases, with many of us hoping he'll finally debut in phase four. Whether it's classic character Richard Rider or the new Nova Sam Alexander, we would be pretty happy with whatever they choose.

As we wait for a Nova movie to come out, we do at least have Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 coming out soon. With Nova almost-always paired up with the group in comic books, his inclusion in the third movie would be awesome.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date.
