Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Spoilers Continue with Infinity Stones’ Confirmed Absence

If you thought that the onslaught of spoilers for the awaited Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is over, then you're about to get another helping of it.

Director James Gunn has dropped another hint, though perhaps not as big as the ones that had already been revealed so far. In a Facebook post, Gunn has started answering fan queries about the upcoming movie.

"There will be no Infinity Stones in Vol. 2."

Some fans did not seem convinced, which started the speculation mill, such as which Marvel movie the stones will appear next and if Gunn's authority on these storyline matters held the biggest weight in the production. As such, Gunn added that he was the decision maker when it comes to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

"I decide everything that happens in GotG. Other than that it's in the hands of others."
"There will be infinity nothing. It's a story about the GuarDian's and isn't meant to lead to anything else."

Considering how Guardians of the Galaxy 2 may delve deeper into Star-Lord's background, this seems like an appropriate decision. Marvel has already hinted that Guardians of the Galaxy and its characters will somehow be connected to the big Infinity War, thanks to the stone's presence in the first movie.

Perhaps in the next movie, the story will be focused more on Star-Lord's father (played by Kurt Russell), who was revealed at the SDCC 2016 to be Ego the Living Planet. Don't worry, Gunn has assured that this is not the twist the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is going for. Then again, how could it, when we already know it a good half year away from launch?

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is slated for the movies on April 25, 2017.
