A lot of fans were pretty happy when Lucasfilm decided to bring Grand Admiral Thrawn out of the Star Wars extended universe and into the canon universe by adding the strategic Imperial Officer into the popular Star Wars Rebels animated series.

However, now that Rebels is closing its curtain and drawing closer to the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, many are worrying that Thrawn might not make it out of the fourth and final season of the series.

Luckily, it seems like the admiral is going to make it out alive.

In an interview with StarWars.com, Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni decided to talk about casting Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn's voice actor, and during his discussion, the showrunner inadvertently revealed that Thrawn lived past Rogue One.

"The character takes shape around the voice. He is dedicated to getting it right, he understands that the character is important. His character outlived his brother's [Mads Mikkelsen], who's in Rogue One, which is a hilarious inside joke for us."

Could this mean that Thrawn might have a future in the Star Wars franchise outside of Rebels? Star Wars fans love the character for his intelligence and his strategic prowess, making him a formidable villain in the Star Wars expanded universe. It would certainly be interesting if the character popped up somewhere in a Star Wars spinoff series.

Star Wars Rebels airs new episodes every Monday at 9 PM ET on Disney XD.
