Gotham May Introduce Harley Quinn in Season 3

A familiar and most awaited face may arrive in Gotham as early as its current season 3 run.

While Cameron Monaghan is still hogging the scene as Jerome, the proto-Joker executive producer John Stephens didn't waste time in giving another teaser of who's coming to the show this season.

In a teaser to TV Guide, Stephens revealed that a Harley Quinn prototype was already in the works. And though there was no definite timeline of when she will be coming in—there has been a lot of talk, but mostly thanks to the buzz of Suicide Squad—now, the producers are able to give a date.

"We might see [her] in Episode 22."

That's a very definitive reveal, and considering the proximity to the next season, it's possible that it is also the set-up needed for when Gotham gets renewed for another season.

The timing of Jerome's return is very suspicious though. He is the prototype for Joker, though there's still the hot debate of whether he will actually become the Clown Prince of Crime in the show. If he does, it will definitely be an insane plot development in Gotham for the fourth season.

Before Harley's announcement, I was actually wondering if Barbara would become Harley at some point. The blond girly-girl act was very much in tune with how Harley has been portrayed in the Batman franchise. And while the entire origin story would have been messed up, it didn't help that the scenes she did share with Jerome when they were still the Maniax had a very similar approach.
