Godzilla: King Of Monsters Teases A Giant Mothra

Kong: Skull Island was a huge hit for Legendary, and the studio is more confident than ever to push forward with their other Kaiju movies. The next one in line is the Godzilla-centric Godzilla: King of Monsters, and the movie promises multiple Kaiju including King Ghidora, Rodan, and Mothra. Though we got some teasers at the end of Kong, we now have a cool teaser for Mothra.

Check out the "leaked" case file:

I think it's really cool that the movie is going to harken back to Mothra's origins as a native god, but I doubt they're going to include the part where the tribe that worships Mothra is a bunch of action-figure-sized people.

Just for fun, check out the trailer for the 1961 movie:

Besides Godzilla, Mothra has also been one of those classic Kaiju monsters in Japanese cinema, and it would be amazing to see the monster come to life onscreen with some top-notch Hollywood SFX. I'm just wondering what kind of Earth the movie would be depicting with all these giant monsters clashing and destroying several cities.

Is this all some elaborate build-up to another Pacific Rim franchise?

Here's the official synopsis of the movie:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of Monsters comes out March 22, 2019.
