God of War Movie and TV Series No Longer in Development at Sony

It looks like Kratos will not be making his cinematic debut any time soon. Sony has just revealed that there are no plans in developing the God of War movie or TV show in the future.

Back in 2005, a God of War movie adaptation was announced and was even expected to "humanize" Kratos at a certain level. However, the project has not moved forward beyond a script that was reportedly submitted back in 2013.

So what's the status of the God of War film? A Sony representative told The New York Times that the project is not in development right now. Although it wasn't indicated whether this could change in the future, it was firmly suggested that God of War adaptation is not the priority at the moment.

But why is Sony pushing God of War aside? As the report confirms, the studio currently has a lot on its plate. In addition to the upcoming Uncharted film, there are planned adaptations of Sony Interactive games like Twisted Metal and Ghost of Tsushima. Moreover, the HBO series adapting The Last of Us is also in development.

This is disappointing news for fans but people are still hoping that a God of War movie or TV show will eventually be greenlighted by Sony in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
