George R.R. Martin Comments On Game Of Thrones Killing Characters

The seventh season of Game of Thrones might continue to break records as the popular fantasy epic continues to gather viewers in droves, however it seems like A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin isn't one of those men.

The fantasy novel writer told Metro that he's too busy right now to follow the current season of HBO's television adaptation of his books, warning fans that the plot points in both mediums will continue to stray away from each other.

"The book series and TV adaptation go their separate ways. On the screen characters are killed right and left. About 20 of them have died already, which are quite alive to me and will appear in a new book."

It seems like Martin's being a lot kinder in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, though fans have also been complaining that HBO's Game of Thrones has lost its grit, coating characters with heavy plot armor to keep them alive for the fan base.

Martin didn't give an update on The Winds of Winter in his interview with the publication, however fans can probably hope for the book to come out soon with the author keeping himself away from the new season to concentrate on work.

Game of Thrones airs its final episode at 9pm this Sunday, August 27, on HBO.
