George R. R. Martin Confirms Delay for Next Game of Thrones Book

As if waiting for the final season of Game of Thrones wasn't hard enough, George R. R. Martin has revealed that his book is going to be delayed. Again. Well to be fair, it's not like the book has a definitive release date or even a vague release window but the fact that it won't be coming out this year.

On his blog, Martin confirmed that the next installment, called The Winds of Winter, will not be coming out this year. While he did assure fans that Fire and Blood will be coming out this year, fans would have preferred The Winds of Winter, though that cannot be helped at this point. It will be interesting to see if the book has many similarities to the final GoT season.

Fans who have seen the seventh season know that HBO has decided to do their own thing and not follow the book anymore, or at least, be really liberal with the source material. This is why a number of fans called the seventh season the "worst one" thus far. We say the "worst one" because a bad Game of Thrones season is quality television.

Game of Thrones season eight comes out sometime next year.
