Game of Thrones Star Possibly Confirms He'll Play Joel in The Last of Us HBO Series

It's no secret that HBO is already developing a new series based on The Last of Us. But who will play Joel in the adaptation of the Naughty Dog video games? Former Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau may have confirmed that he has already been cast as Joel in the highly anticipated show.

Coster-Waldau recently took part in a Reddit AMA where he answered several fan questions. Interestingly, one particular query wondered if the Mama star will play Joel Miller on the Last of Us TV show. Instead of denying or confirming, Coster-Waldau left a cryptic response.

"I just got part 2.. What a great game," Coster-Waldau wrote.

Naturally, people loved the answer and as one fan pointed out, "that isn't a no." Another comment stated that Coster-Waldau was adopting the Henry Cavill method of "familiarizing himself with the source material before they announce it."

Of course, it's important to point out that that isn't a yes, either. Perhaps Coster-Waldau is just really interested in the game and wanted to try it out for himself. On the other hand, he does look like the perfect actor to play Joel in the live-action series so we're hoping to get a positive update in the future.

HBO's The Last of Us series is still in early development but it already has some awesome creatives signed on. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin has been confirmed as writer and executive producer alongside Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director for the game franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
