Game of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke Wants To Be Bond, Would Cast DiCaprio as Her Bond Boy

There's a fan campaign lobbying for The X-Files star Gillian Anderson to play the first female Bond, but The Mother of Dragons is here to claim her birthright.

On the heels of that fan campaign, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in HBOs' fantasy drama, said that she would love to play the suave British Secret Service agent. Speaking to U.K.'s Daily Star, she said, "I have a lot of unrealized dreams. I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it."

But James Bond director Sam Mendes says that casting for the next Bond movie isn't that simple.

"There's this constant debate about who's going to be the next Bond," Mendes said at the Hay Festival over the weekend. "The truth is — and here's the headline: It's not a democracy. It's not the X Factor, it's not the EU referendum, it's not a public vote. (Producer) Barbara Broccoli chooses who's going to be the next Bond: end of story."
