Sure, Game of Thrones might not have ended on the strongest note, however, the series was indubitably one of the most successful and highly celebrated shows on television gathering a massive and passionate following.

While the series has come to an end, HBO has been planning a few spinoffs to the series, and now, it looks like the very first project, House of the Dragon, might air in the next two years. HBO's President of Programming Casey Bloys just recently spoke in an interview with Deadline, and during the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, the television executive got to talking about the very first Game of Thrones spinoff series.

According to Bloys, HBO knew when they wanted to have House of the Dragon released to the public, saying that it wasn't a really hard date to set for the network.

"My guess is sometime in 2022," Bloys told the publication.

While HBO has been working on other spinoffs for Game of Thrones, Bloys says that House of the Dragon has become the network's only priority. Still, HBO isn't ruling out other spinoffs in the future.

"For me for right now, I think getting House of the Dragon on the air will be the number one priority. There are no other blinking green lights or anything like that. Sometime down the road who knows, but there are no immediate plans. We are all focusing on House of the Dragon," the television executive told the entertainment news outlet.

There aren't that many details about the series yet, however, House of the Dragon is set to follow the story of House Targaryen 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. We can't wait to hear more about what HBO has planned for the show.

House of the Dragon is set to premiere sometime in 2022.
