Game of Thrones Season 6: Is This How Jon Snow Will Come Back To Life?

Warning: huge possible spoilers ahead!

Game of Thrones fans have speculated that the devastating demise of fan-favorite Jon Snow (Kit Harington) at the end of Season 5 wasn't intended to be permanent, and despite Harington denying his character's return, it seems that they may have been right.

Last week, HBO released a new poster to promote the sixth season of Game of Thrones, which will air in April 2016, and it features a close-up of Jon Snow with bloody face, so that must mean something, right? So does that mean that Jon Snow will be resurrected in Season 6? News from the set of HBO's series, which is currently filming in Northern Ireland, might provide an answer.

Spoilers ahead!

According to the fan site Watchers on the Wall, Carice van Houten's scenes for the upcoming season were filmed in Belfast behind closed doors, making it likely than the red priestess Melisandre and her powerful spells will play a huge part in Snow's revival. The site also claims that a ball-on-a-stick was also used for scenes with Snow's CGI direwolf, Ghost, which could be a sign for Snow's dramatic rebirth.

We already know that resurrection is possible in Westeros given how frequently Beric Dondarrion has been resurrected from the dead by Thoros (who, like Melisandre, is a priest of the Lord of the Light). Beric's frequent resurrections have changed him, chipping away at his memory – but will Jon suffer the same fate? A recently-released video also supports the theory that Melisandre will be the key to Jon's return.

Meanwhile, it seems that there's a new Lord Commander in charge at the Wall. Leaks from the set suggest Jon leaves Castle Black and goes back to Winterfall in Season 6 in scenes involving Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton).
