Gal Gadot is the face behind the biggest female superhero in pop-culture, Wonder Woman, but she has just recently revealed that she was in line to play another feminist badass—Imperator Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gadot revealed that she was up for the role of Furiosa, but at the time she was not famous enough to headline the movie.
"I had so many almosts for big, great things, but I was never big enough of a name," she says, citing as an example the part that Charlize Theron ultimately played in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road. "It was always me and 'the big name.'"
Looking at Gadot now, her role as Diana Prince has gained her worldwide fame, and a lot of people are definitely eager to have her headline their movie now. Though she may have missed her opportunity as Furiosa, I'm hopeful they'll still cast her in a future movie for Mad Max. I can imagine a lot of people getting in line to see Gadot kick some ass in post-apocalypic armor.
As for the person who did win the Furiosa role, Charlize Theron, she still did a pretty stellar job. Theron continually proves herself as a great actress for kick-ass women, and her work on Atomic Blonde is a prime example.
Gal Gadot may have to wait a while before starring in a Mad Max movie, but at least we'll get to see her as Diana again in the upcoming Justice League which comes out Nov. 17.
